Projects 2012 - 2013 Creative Entrepreneurs in Soweto BUSINESS INCUBATION AND FOSSIL CASTING Having undertaken a gap analysis of the Fossil Casting project in Mamelodi, needs were identified to transform the project into a successful commercial venture. Participants focused on the necessity of sophisticated training for the production of business and financial plans. Drawing on the partnership with the University of Pretoria School of Entrepreneurship, Ifa Lethu structured a specialised training programme to address this shortcoming. Funding: N ational Lotteries Board Location: I fa Lethu Business Incubator, Mamelodi Campus Partners: U niversity of Pretoria Deliverables: • 6 participants were trained in the production of viable financial and business plans for fossil casting products • 6 Business Plans created • Two Ifa Lethu interns (academic) furnished with experience in the 24 Ifa lethu annual report 2012/13 production of business training modules • Participants economically empowered through the enhancement of their business skills As part of its Youth in Business Projects, the Foundation implemented its entrepreneurial development programme for youth, many of whom are operating businesses on a part-time basis. The training programme was designed for the development of sustainable businesses in the creative sector. Funding: N ational Lotteries Location: I fa Lethu Creative Hands Incubator (Soweto) Partners: Kungawo Development, Mafolo Arts Centre Deliverables: • Business/Financial management training was provided (10 workshops) for 10 youth from Soweto • 10 Business plans were created • Mentoring of 10 trainees commenced and continues for 6 months • Prizes will be awarded to the business which proves sustainability
